HOIO
HOIO is the first Import-Company for products from the fictitious island of Santa Lemusa. Due to its singular situation between the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea this island offers a great variety of different landscapes – rocky cliffs and smooth beaches, dense forests and barren mountain areas, marshy bays and lush plains. This richness of the landscape has also a deep influence on the culinary products of the island. Rice or rum, sausages or spices, Flafla-Bean or Chamou-Liver – whatever comes up on the island, whatever is hunted or fished, has its own taste and its own little history. HOIO tries to make accessible some of the lemusan specialities – and some of the islands stories – for those who can not regularly travel to Santa Lemusa.
Since its foundation in June 2001, HOIO has not only been the advocate of the lemusan kitchen, but has also collaborated with different artists, writers and searchers from the island (e.g. José Maria, Sarah Tibuni or Anne Bigord). On our webpage (www.hoio.ch) you can find some information about all the products imported by HOIO – completed by a short profile of the island, a abbreviation of its history and the description of some of HOIO's projects. If you have any questions about the content of this page please send a e-mail to hoio@bluewin.ch
